Tonight's lesson: Stay away from boots on wine.
Very strong and tannic, no subtlety at all, and really not very pleasant. More bitter than anything, with insufficient complexity of other flavors to balance it. It wasn't a faint taste reminiscent of old leather; it was like drinking the boot pictured on the label.
We mulled the rest of the bottle. Even then, it was barely drinkable.
Stay away from boots on wine.
